Penelope's Story: From wobbles to warming hearts

When Penelope’s foster mom walked into the shelter, she expected to bring home a kitten or two. The staff knew she was coming, and they made sure to place a tiny calico named “Wobbles” front and center.

At just four weeks old, Wobbles had been found on the street, struggling to stay upright. She could only take a few wobbly steps before tumbling over. Despite having no experience with special-needs kittens, her foster mom instantly fell in love—and decided to take on the challenge.

Soon, “Wobbles” became Penelope. Diagnosed with cerebellar hyperplasia (CH), a neurological condition that affects coordination, Penelope needed patience, special accommodations, and a lot of love. Her foster family built a safe environment and played games to help strengthen her legs. Slowly but surely, Penelope went from only walking a few steps before falling over…to proudly strutting down the hardwood hallway!

Her determination and joy for life were contagious. She taught her foster family lessons in resilience, creativity, and unconditional love. And soon, Penelope found her forever home with a very special adopter who saw the same spark and spirit—and now she’s living her very best life.
