Our Adoption Process

By adopting a pet, you're giving a homeless animal a chance at a loving home and a brighter future. Your decision not only saves the life of the pet you welcome into your family but also opens up a spot for another precious life to be rescued.

Our adoption process starts with an application.

Applications are available on each pet profile which you can download and send to us for review at info@habitat4paws.org. Once we receive the completed application, we will contact you as soon as possible to tell you more about the pet.

Start a home trial for 3-5 days to see if it's a match.

If everyone in your home is in agreement on the pet, we bring the animal to your home for a 3-5 day home trial stay. The home visit helps ensure the pet is the right fit for you, your family and existing pets.

Set up a meet and greet with the dog or cat.

If your home seems like a good fit for the pet, we wills schedule a meet and greet for you and the dog or cat. This way you can spend quality time with them and see if they are a good fit. For cats we do these at the PetSmart Cat Adoption Center in Frisco off Dallas Parkway.

Finalize the adoption and celebrate!

Once you adopt the dog or cat, we hand over all medical paperwork we have since we rescued the animal, as well as transfer their microchip to your name.

Adoption Fees

Puppies up to 1 year

$275

All of our dogs are fully vetted and include:

  • Rabies Vaccination

  • Viral Vaccination (DHPP for dogs)

  • De-worming

  • Leptospirosis shot

  • Heartworm tested and treated if needed

  • Spay/Neuter Surgery

  • Microchip

  • Current on heartworm and flea prevention 

You will receive a full set of vet records upon adoption along with the physical rabies and microchip tags.

Dogs over 1 year

$225

All of our dogs are fully vetted and include:

  • Rabies Vaccination

  • Viral Vaccination (DHPP for dogs)

  • De-worming

  • Leptospirosis shot

  • Heartworm tested and treated if needed

  • Spay/Neuter Surgery

  • Microchip

  • Current on heartworm and flea prevention 

You will receive a full set of vet records upon adoption along with the physical rabies and microchip tags.

Kittens & cats

$185

All of our cats are fully vetted and include:

  • Rabies Vaccination

  • Viral Vaccination (FVRCP and Feline Leukemia for cats)

  • De-worming

  • Feline Leukemia/AIDS Test

  • Spay/Neuter Surgery

  • Microchip

  • Current on heartworm and flea prevention 

You will receive a full set of vet records upon adoption along with the physical rabies and microchip tags.
